Placement Process

Phase 1: Application & Initial Vetting

  • Step 1: Initial Intake & Agreement: Submit your basic profile and sign the Participant Agreement to begin.
  • Step 2: Administrative Setup ($20 Fee): Pay the initial screening fee to establish your file in the GUP system and begin the preliminary background check against J-1 regulations.
  • Step 3: Eligibility Vetting: Our experts conduct a deep dive into your academic and professional background to ensure you meet U.S. State Department requirements.

Phase 2: Professional Profiling & Screening

  • Step 4: The Vetting Process ($450 Fee): Pay the vetting fee to trigger formal document processing. This includes your English Assessment and language verification.
  • Step 5: Luxury Profiling & Video Interview: We optimize your resume and video introduction for U.S. luxury standards. You will undergo a "mock" interview with a GUP coordinator to align your career goals with our 4 and 5-star partner properties.
  • Step 6: Official Onboarding: Once cleared, your profile is finalized and "unlocked" for our network of premier U.S. host resorts.

Phase 3: Host Matching & Placement

  • Step 7: Host Property Interviews: Select from our exclusive list of partners and interview directly with U.S. Hotel Managers and the visa sponsor.
  • Step 8: Training Offer (DS-7002): Secure your position and sign your official DS-7002 Training/Internship Placement Plan, a detailed syllabus of your 12-month professional journey.
  • Step 9: Program Balance: Once your job offer is secured and the training plan is signed, the remaining $3,820 (interns) or 4,520(trainees) program fee is due.

Phase 4: Visa Processing & Arrival

  • Step 10: Legal Documentation (The DS-2019): GUP issues your DS-2019 (Certificate of Eligibility) and SEVIS I-901 receipt—the "Golden Ticket" required for your visa.
  • Step 11: The Embassy Interview: Complete your DS-160 and attend your interview at the U.S. Embassy. GUP provides specialized coaching to help you prepare for this meeting.
  • Step 12: U.S. Arrival: After visa approval, travel to the USA. Check into your pre-arranged housing and begin your professional career at a world-class resort.

Important Information Regarding Your Investment

While Global Umbrella Placement (GUP) provides a comprehensive success-based package covering your legal sponsorship, insurance, and housing placement, there are mandatory third-party costs associated with U.S. immigration and international travel that are not included in the $4,290(interns) or $4,990(trainees) program fee. Candidates are responsible for the following out-of-pocket expenses:

1. U.S. Embassy Visa Appointment Fee (MRV Fee)

  • Estimated Cost: $185 USD (Subject to change by the U.S. Department of State).
  • Payment: Paid directly to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate in your home country when scheduling your visa interview.

2. International Airfare

  • Estimated Cost: Varies by location and season.
  • Payment: Candidates are responsible for booking and paying for their round-trip flights to and from their assigned U.S. host property. We recommend booking only after your visa has been approved.

3. Personal Settlement Funds

  • Recommended Amount: $1,000 – $1,500 USD.
  • Purpose: To cover personal meals, local transportation, and incidental expenses during your first few weeks in the USA before your first paycheck is issued. (Note: While your rent is covered by the 14-day grace period, you will still need funds for personal items and food).

4. Criminal Background Check & Medical Clearances

  • Estimated Cost: Varies by country.
  • Payment: Some host properties require a formal police clearance or specific medical tests. Any costs associated with obtaining these local documents are the responsibility of the candidate.
